E80 Group develops EAGLE T.R.A.Y.S., the regional project dedicated to multi‑shape and multi‑dimension picking automation.

EAGLE T.R.A.Y.S. (Tridimensional Robotic Assortment Yard System) is the industrial research and experimental development project carried out by E80 Group and funded under the Emilia‑Romagna Regional Call – Law 14/2021, dedicated to supporting strategic initiatives for innovation and regional competitiveness. The project has received a public grant that acknowledges the technological value and industrial impact of the proposed solution.

The initiative aims to address a key challenge in modern intralogistics: automating multi‑shape and multi‑dimension picking operations through new robotic architectures, automatic vehicles, and advanced vision systems. Thanks to an integrated set of technologies and the SM.I.LE80 management platform, EAGLE T.R.A.Y.S. enables the assembly of mixed‑SKU pallets with high precision, reducing manual activities while enhancing efficiency, flow continuity, and safety within manufacturing plants and distribution centers.

The project fits into a broader digital transformation strategy aimed at developing flexible solutions for both greenfield and brownfield facilities, contributing to the evolution of regional production processes and to the competitiveness of the mechatronics supply chain. During the application phase, E80 Group also planned to increase its workforce by +80 employees, with a significant share of graduates assigned to technical‑engineering roles, in line with the regional call’s objectives to foster advanced skills development in the area.

Having achieved the highest score among all approved Research & Development projects, EAGLE T.R.A.Y.S. stands as an excellent example within the regional landscape and a strategic milestone in E80 Group’s innovation path. Collaboration with regional institutions and partners specialized in facilitated finance made it possible to strengthen a highly technological project capable of generating industrial benefits, skill growth, and positive impacts across the production supply chain.
